About this website

The aim of this website is to help spread the word  more widely about what the WEA does. If you haven’t heard of us, you’re not alone. The WEA is one of the best kept secrets there is. We are the Workers’ Educational Association - you can click on the ‘WEA history’ page to find out a little bit more about how it all started.

Today the WEA runs courses for adults all over the country. We are committed to widening participation and to enabling people to realise their full potential through learning. You don’t  need any previous knowledge or qualifications to join most of our courses – only a willingness to share with others your ideas and experience.

The author of this blog is a course organiser for the WEA in the East Midlands spending half her time organising WEA Branch courses for: Arnold, Costock, East Bridgford, Kimberley, Lowdham, Oxton, Radcliffe on Trent and Sutton in Ashfield and the other half organising courses using ACLS (Adult and Community Learning Service) funds from Nottinghamshire Council to fill the gaps in adult learning across the county.

So, whether you want to get involved in WEA Branch work, or you are interested in finding out more about our ACLS provision in Nottinghamshire, you can contact Lindsey on 07919  528 109, or use the ‘make contact’ form on this website, or send an email to: ltasker@wea.org.uk
