As another year of learning comes to an end it is of course time to start planning for the autumn. The WEA will once again be working in partnership with the Nottinghamshire County Council Adult and Community Learning Service (ACLS) to deliver targeted personal and community development courses across the county.
So, if you’re looking for funding for adult learning in Nottinghamshire during 2012-2013, this could be a good place to start.
The WEA can use the funds from ACLS to deliver all sorts of courses for adults all over Nottinghamshire. We can pay reasonable venue costs, supply tutors for a range of subjects and even help with promotion and publicity.
If you work in a community centre, belong to a voluntary group, or simply think that where you live could really benefit from some local adult learning opportunities, now is the time to get in touch and have a chat about what the WEA can offer.
You can use the ‘make contact’ form on this website, email Lindsey direct at firstname.lastname@example.org or call on 07919 528 109.

While it’s easy to start feeling anxious about the future of funding for adult education, it’s also important to remember that for this year funds are still available to run courses for adults all over Nottinghamshire.
The WEA has funding from ACLS to spend between now and August 2011. Those funds can pay for a tutor and a venue – all you have to do is tell us what sort of course you want and help us promote it to local people. We can even design and print some flyers for you.
So, while the funds are available, why not get in touch for a chat about how we can work together to get more people learning. Call Lindsey on: 07760 337 893.

Great news – funding for WEA/ACLS courses has been secured for 2010-2011. The new term starts in September, and once again the plans will be to get courses running in the parts of the county that need them most. New learners! New courses! New venues! Lots more opportunities to learn all over Nottinghamshire – coming soon.
So, what are you waiting for? The planning has started – make sure you’re part of it!

As the new term gets into full swing and everyone starts dreaming about the fast approaching summer holidays, there is still time to access funding available to run courses for adults in targeted areas of the county.
Over the last few weeks I have been talking to all sorts of people from all sorts of places, and as a result have set up gardening and woodwork courses in hostels for the homeless; a yoga course for women recovering from alcohol/drugs abuse; a goals and motivation course for people recovering from mental health issues; and a writing course for older learners.
I am also talking to Children’s Centres about computer courses for local parents; to libraries about social media courses for their users; to volunteer centres about confidence building courses; to luncheon clubs about courses based on reminiscence and to community groups about a variety of other courses from patchwork & quilting to tracing your ancestors.
So, if you like the sound of any of the above courses, or if there is another course that you would like to see running, why not find out about funding that is available now and contact me by phone or email:
